Hunting Together RPG Progression Guide: Zones, Boss Gates and Upgrade Systems
Clear the Gorilla King at the Level 25 Boss Gate, then follow the elemental maps to the desert city while building refining, cards, mounts and Extra passives.
Quick answer
After the Level 17–24 transition zone, the next hard stop is the Level 25 Boss Gate: defeat the Gorilla King and the gate opens into the town and its surrounding fields.
- Beyond the town: intermediate elemental maps at Levels 34, 42 and 50+ lead toward the desert city, where monster affinities change.
- Build alongside the climb: Blacksmith refining, monster cards and the Adventure Book.
- Rabbit mount after 1,000 rabbit kills: a rideable mount that increases map movement speed.
- Extra passives at level 99: up to six passive skills from maxed classes, equipped through the Extra interface.
The zone chain, and the Level 25 gate
Progression is arranged as level-tiered zones separated by gatekeeper bosses. The main route looks like this:
Data table
- Level range
- 1–8
- Zone or gate
- Starting forest
- What happens there
- Rabbits and low-level beasts
- Level range
- 9–16
- Zone or gate
- Second wilderness zone

- Lead into the desert city, where monster affinities change
The first gate with a named boss is the Level 25 Boss Gate. Up to that point, the Level 17–24 transition zone is the approach: it leads toward the first major town, but the Gorilla King is what actually blocks the road. Defeating it clears the gate, and the town plus its surrounding fields open up. For the wider route, the leveling guide and unlock areas pages cover the climb around these bands.
Past the town, the map keeps the level-band structure but changes setting. Levels 34, 42 and 50+ are intermediate elemental maps leading into the desert city, where monster affinities change. The ranges are given per zone, so read them as each zone's place in the chain rather than a universal schedule.
The gate is also where the party structure starts to matter. The game has eight classes — Swordsman, Mage, Archer, Thief, Cleric, Merchant, Samurai and Alchemist — and EXP is shared with friends at any level gap, so a higher-level friend can group with a lower-level character and both still progress while taking down bosses together. The Gorilla King is the first named boss standing in the way, which makes it the obvious first target for a group. The bosses guide and party guide cover those fights in more detail.
What to build alongside the zones
The upgrade systems use the same playtime as the zone climb rather than replacing it. Each has its own prerequisite, and each pays out in a different place:
Data table
- System
- Blacksmith refining
- What it needs
- Refine ores from monster drops; walk up to the Blacksmith and click to talk if you do not have premium
- What it adds
- Higher weapon upgrade levels, with failure able to downgrade the item unless a Protect Stone is used
- System
- Monster cards
- What it needs
- Cards dropped by monsters at 0.1%–1% rates, slotted into equipment; duplicates cannot be equipped together
- What it adds
- Flat attack, agility or percentage damage increases
- System
- Adventure Book
- What it needs
- Every monster card from a zone
- What it adds
- Permanent bonus stats such as extra physical attack and magic attack

- A rideable mount that increases map movement speed
- System
- Extra passives
- What it needs
- Level 99 on a class
- What it adds

Refining at the Blacksmith
Weapons are refined at the Blacksmith using refine ores found from monster drops. If you do not have premium membership, you start the process by walking up to the Blacksmith and clicking to talk.
The success chance changes in steps. In one recorded upgrade run, levels 1 through 4 all succeeded at 100%; at level 5 the chance dropped into the 60% range, the next step was shown at 40%, and later attempts in the same run were shown at 20%. Those numbers come from one item in one session, so treat them as a picture of the curve rather than a fixed table.
Failure is where the planning comes in. The documented case is the +9 to +10 upgrade: a failed attempt downgrades the item to +8, and using a Protect Stone prevents that penalty, keeping the weapon at +9. Without one, the recorded example dropped back to +4. The exact drop depends on the attempt, but the pattern is the same — a failure without protection costs upgrade levels. Refine ores come from monster drops, so the ore supply builds while you farm the zones you are already leveling in. The refining guide and equipment guide go further into the gear side.
Monster cards and the Adventure Book
Every monster drops a card, with drop rates from 0.1% to 1%. A card slots into equipment and grants flat attack, agility or a percentage damage increase, and equipping duplicate cards is restricted, so the gains come from assembling different cards rather than stacking copies.
Collecting every monster card in a zone unlocks permanent bonus stats in the Adventure Book, such as extra physical attack and magic attack. That gives each zone two reasons to hold you: experience for its level band, and card drops for both your equipment slots and the zone's Adventure Book set. With rates as low as 0.1%, completion is a long-term project that builds across repeated visits rather than something that finishes in one pass. See the monster cards guide and Adventure Book guide for the collection side.
The rabbit mount and pets
Defeating 1,000 rabbits unlocks a rideable rabbit mount that increases map movement speed. Rabbits are the enemies of the Level 1–8 starting forest, so the forest is where that count gets built.
Pets serve a different job: they automatically collect dropped items over a wide radius. That keeps loot moving to you while you work through the kills that card drops and level bands require. The pets guide covers the pet side.
Extra passives at level 99
Classes cap at level 99. Reaching that cap lets you switch to another class at level 1 while retaining access to the passive skills of the maxed role. The Extra interface is where that pays off: you can equip up to six passive skills unlocked from level 99 classes, with examples such as Assassin dodge rate and movement speed bonuses or Hunter critical damage boosts.
Because the slots draw on maxed classes, the long-term version of this system is leveling more than one class to 99. That is also where the beta milestones fit: the developer description lists two of them — reach Lv.99 for the Beta Tester title and Lv.99 on three classes for the Limited Ice Cat — and says these rewards stay after the official launch. The extra passives guide and class leveling pages cover the class side in more detail.
Moving between zones
The world you progress through includes forests, deserts, snowfields and a volcano full of monsters and bosses. Warp Pillars, added with the Halloween update, let you travel fast. That matters because older zones do not stop being useful — their monsters still drop cards for Adventure Book sets you have not completed. The locations guide and desert guide cover the regions you pass through.
